The STAR Method
Structure every behavioural answer with Situation, Task, Action, Result.
Situation
Set the scene — describe the context briefly.
Task
Explain your responsibility or what was expected of you.
Action
Detail the specific steps YOU took (use 'I', not 'we').
Result
Share the outcome — quantify where possible (%, £, time saved).
Question Types
Behavioural
Based on past experience. Start with 'Tell me about a time…'
Technical
Tests role-specific knowledge. Be precise and structured.
Situational
Hypothetical scenarios. Walk through your decision process.
Motivation
Why this role/company? Research thoroughly beforehand.
Competency
Demonstrate core competencies with concrete examples.

Pause for 2–3 seconds before answering to collect your thoughts.
Keep answers to 1–3 minutes — quality beats length.
